October brings in charisma to our lives, be it the advent of winters or the festival of lights. This year October brings in another jewel to add to the festivities, Version β: Possibly India’s biggest hackathon in the near future. Version β stands for a cause; To eliminate rote learning from the academic lives and inculcating spirits of innovation and experimentation among the youth. Hackathons are yet to become the part of the regular norms in the fast developing nation, hence, few tech-enthusiasts from ISTE Students' Chapter MANIT took the charge to do so. With enterprises lining up for bare talents who can innovate and create something of their own, all that the students need is a podium to showcase their talents. With a vast pool of talented individuals shortlisted by a rigorous selection procedure, Version β holds the key to overall development in the social and technical aspects of an individual.
Venturing out in the unknown to create something of worth has never been easier; you succeed, you walk home with a revolutionary product, you fail and there’s nothing you could have lost. There’s just you, your team, and 36 hours to dive into the unknown and rise up with what could possibly be the Google of our era. And the best part, your food and stay are totally free!
Considering the need for a change of perspective, we shifted to a whole other species. Dolphins. They've been known to be extremely smart creatures, second only to man in terms of wit. They are excellent predators, thanks to their outstanding teamwork skills. Echolocation proves to be their great source of communication which is only understood by another from their kind. Well, not unlike our hackers. Takes one to know one, that is.
So to take the boredom and monotony out of the equation, here's some help. Introducing Shun and Uno, our very own mascots. They'll be guiding you throughout the event; through times when you have to scratch your head with the technicalities. And since they're dolphins, you can expect all of your problems to be solved!

ISTE MANIT is organising a first of its kind workshop on Competitive Programming by Coding Blocks. The workshop will act as a guide to ace coding interviews as well. Competitive programming is not just about solving questions, that's just the programming. The competitive part comes when the solution has to be efficient and has to be submitted as fast as possible. All successful competitive programmers have some tricks up their sleeves which separate them from the rest. A strong knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms is obviously a prerequisite to be a successful competitive programmer, which in turn helps you in the interviews. Rest assured, this workshop will help you see an extra dimension of competitive programming.
Many of us know Mozilla because of its web browser Mozilla Firefox. But that is just the tip of the iceberg. Mozilla is a pioneer when it comes to open source and has one of the largest open source communities in the world. It is a regular participant in the Google Summer of Code. Developer Circles is an initiative taken by Facebook to promote development by bringing like minded developers under one roof. This seminar is an opportunity to learn the art from the masters themselves. Open source contribution is something that can teach you how to code a thousand times better than books. But as it is with every field, newbies have to struggle to maneuver in the world of open source and many thus give up. But after a proper one on one session with the stalwarts, one can easily venture into the field of open source. Moreover the seasoned mentors will also mould you on how to approach tech giants for jobs and internships.
